Fintech Hackaton
At the start of October, we attended Norway’s largest (to this date) fintech hackathon. The focus was to prototype revolutionary financial services. We met and teamed up with creative experts from the financial sector (among others), and set out to understand what to prototype. The winning team, “Shuffle”, proposed to perfect competition between banks by automating customers’ mortgages and always transferring these to the bank with the lowest interest rate. The hackathon was a very well-run event by specialists from Bergen’s fintech community, in cooperation with NTNU Accel.
Truls, from spring, joined a group who paper prototyped a new service to help kids between 10 and 16 visualize the financial consequences of their choices. By talking to a few kids on the street, the team was impressed by their high awareness of how they access and spend their money. Another important takeaway is the potential benefit of futures images as a common starting ground in a hackathon. Using this method will increase the number of novel problems and novel solutions. We are already looking forward to the next hackathon!
